FOUR PERSONS KILLED.

TWO SERIOUSLY INJURED LEVEL CROSSING SMASH. TRAGEDY IN NEW SOUTH WALES. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. SYDNEY, Dec. 2. Four people were killed and two others seriously injured to-day in one of the worst level crossing accidents in the history of New South Wales. Those killed were:— Mr. Harry Mackie, aged 60. Mr. Harry Wilson, aged 70. Miss Elva Mortimer, aged 17. Miss Gladys Tolhurst, aged 15. All were residents of Burrawang. Those injured were: Mr. Walter Hollins, aged 29, unmarried, broken collarbone, and Miss Joyce Gilbert, a fractured skull and serious internal injuries. A locomotive drawing a van collided with a milk lorry at Culhvalla, near Bowral, on the southern branch of the line. The six people in the lorry, who were being driven to Bowral for Christmas shopping, were hurled in all directions. Hollins, who was the driver of the lorry, stated that he did not see the locomotive, his vision being obscured. The members of the train crew were ■so overcome by the tragedy that they could not take the engine away and a new crew had to be obtained.
