This actress, who prefers to be a wife first and a film star afterwards, is Binnle Barnes, and she arrived at Southampton in the German liner Bremen yesterday. Her husband, Mr Sam Joseph, a partner In a London firm which- sella antique books, went to Southampton to meet her, and as soon as the gangway was placed in position on the quay side the two rushed forward and warmly embraced each other. “ I was home-sick and lonely in the United States without my husband,” said Miss Barnes. “We were married only seven months ago, and I found after I had gone to the United States that I far preferred to give up my career in American filmland and come home to my husband than he separated from him by hundreds and hundreds of miles. “ I am anxious to return to the English stage and the English cinema, but I feel I must live with my husband in our home in London." Among the films for British International Pictures in which Miss Barnes has appeared are “Out of the Blue,” “Innocents of Chicago," “Love Lies," and “The Last Coupon."
