Although the Interpretation of dreams is a somewhat individual affair, each nation and almost every professional exponent, giving special meanings to certain objects, there are somethings which have the same significance to almost all races. This may be because mankind has connected them with pleasant or unpleasant memories since the beginning of civilisation. Ancients and moderns have tried to discover why we dream, but have never come to a satisfactory conclusion, though numbers of books have been written on the subject. That we dream Is a fact. Here are a few interpretations pf dreams gleaned from old manuscripts by our forefathers. To dream of oil is excellent; It betokens joy either here or hereafter. Lighted 'candles mean happiness, whether they be held in the hand or sent from afar. Turbid water has no significance, but to dream of travelling over a fair piece of water means peace of mind for the dreamer. Washing in cold water predicts good health, and bathing in the sea is a sign of bliss. To dream that you are washing in hot water predicts an illness. Snakes are bad for all people, and If a man dreams that a snake is pursuing him lie must guard against evil women. To find gold is a good dream, and your wishes will come true. To find pennies means that your friends are jealous of you, so beware 1 To see pennies and not touch them means joy; to take them is a warning that trouble is approaching. If an eagle settles on your head, great honour is coming your way; if you see a number of eagles, beware of enemies who are plotting against you. If you see bees carrying honey, you will obtain a lot of money; if a bee stings you, you will •bo disturbed in your mind by foreigners. Fowls are a sign of jealousy and dispute; but if a person dreams that he possesses a number of hens, it means success. To see a boat in your dreams is evil, and betokens that the fiend Is on your track. A house on fire means great profit; your own house burning is a sign of great gain. To dream that you are building a house signifies the approach of wealth. To be cutting bread means that your troubles are over. To dream that you cannot run Is a warning of approaching peril. To dream that you are naked is also a sign of trouble. Dragons are good, and to see dragons betokens honour. The cutting of hair means vexations. New shoes means ttiat profit is approaching, but not without annoyance. To dream of silk or muslin means deception. To see swine together is a warning of sorrow’. To eat sweets means 'that the dreamer will be held up to scorn for many faults. To hear a bell ringing is a sign of personal joy, ■and to hear singing means the same tiling. It is good to dream of nuts, but not to eat them. To eat anything in a dream is a bad sign.

Wedding and kisses betoken harm. Rain, weeping, palm trees, loaves and roses moan joy. Frogs bring anxiety., And fine clothes are a sure sign of bliss.
