WAIKATO TROTTING CLUB

SUMMER MEETING AT CLAUDELANDS. THE FIELDS ENGAGED IN TO-MORROW’S EVENTS. BRENTLIGHT IN FAVOUR FOR PRINCIPAL HONOURS. (By “Padlock.”) The Summer Meeting of the Waikato Trotting Club will be held to-morrow, when, with favourable weather promised, the fixture will attract a large attendance of patrons from all parts of the province. Fields are of useful size and even quality. With the track at the club’s well-appointed headquarters at Claudelands In first-class order, the racing promises to be particularly interesting and some fast times should be recorded. Leading events on the programme will be the Waikato Handicap and the Farewell Handicap, which will be decided over two miles and a mile and a-quarter respectively.

11.45 IMPROVERS’ HANDICAP. Of £7O; limit 3.50; 1J miles. Autumn Lu . Lt. Pearl Parrish British Metal Lt. VUs l>l»G. Triumph . Lt. Peter Tracey . 12 Indolent . . . Lt. Tiwba .... 3^ Kohewaii . . . Lt. Hue Coronado . 10S With fifteen engaged the field in the opening event is of dimensions to permit of tlie starters getting a good passage. Nine of the field are on the limit. Autumn Lu is due to show some improvement with the public experience Die Nelson Fame filly lies had. British Metal lias no form, but the bracket, Grand Triumph—Pearl Parrish will find some favour. Indolent was second to Nell Yolo at Hie Spring fixture here, when both went from the limit. The latter now lias to concede Indolent 84yds. While Nell Volo is good and will be in demdfcd to-morrow, indolent must also be entitled to serious consideration. Kohewa-h has yet to display her ability. La Triumph is a fast mover and if she goes away is as likely as anything to provide a surprise. Manna’s Son was third and fourth in his respectixe starts at Auckland and will have a good following in the coming race. Nelson Pirate lias a lot to recommend him on breeding, while Tiwtia, "Minwhata, Mattie Herbilwyn and Hue f'.oronado will also come in for some attention. investors may sum up in favour of Nell Volo, Indolent and Manna’s Son.

miles. Brentlight, on his consistent form this season, will be entitled to prominent support. If this member of the Kennerley stable at Te Awamutu runs up to bis best he will keep the best of the opposition very busy. The Feilding trained Brent Zolock has displayed his successful form of late at a sprint distance, but he has succeeded at the longer journey and has staying ability and condition to he equal to a bold challenge to-morrow. Dan Direct was successful in this event twelve months ago. when Torpedo Huon and Impromptu were in the minor places at Hie conclusion of tlie trip, the lime being 4.33 3-5. The fast track to-morrow will suit Dan Direct, whose recent work in private lias been such as to entiile a measure of respect being extended to his prospects. Although Hie locally owned but Auckland trained Little Guy has displayed his best form over shorter courses, he has won at two miles and in the excellent trim he is at present, is expected to he capable of a good showing at his coming start. Te Wahia is not out of the issue even if he would require to improve on the form he lias displayed of late. Still, tlie majority will be better favoured. First Flight was third to Direct Morning and Brentlight in the Labour Day Handicap at the Auckland Spring meeting and her best form would give her an excellent opportunity in this field as there is no doubt about her speed. Machine figures may indicate Brentlight, Little Guy, and First Flight. 2.0 RAGLAN HANDICAP. Of £BS; limit 2.57; 1} miles. Margaret Yds hint Wallace . . I.t. Native Berry . 12 Yds lilid saudy Pointer 12 Clean ... 12 Homeward . 2 4 Kleawah ... 12 Lady Coronado 24 Miss Joan Hey de Quest 04 Direct ... 12 some Dillon . 3G The limit candidate. Margaret Wallace was successful at the Auckland meeting, hut the element of luck was with her. Cleao, who recently look up headquarters locally, has staying ability, but they will go fast here. Eleawali, Native Berry and Sandy Pointer will each have some prospect, but they will have a serious rival in the speedy • Homeward, a member of S. M. August's team, whose form over ten furlongs has been good. Lady Coronado, Rey de Quest and Some Dillon complete the field in which tlie public will follow Homeward, Lady Coronado and Some Dllllon.

12.30 PROGRESSIVE HANDICAP. • Of £7O; limit 3.5; U miles. Adjutant . . • Lt. l’edlar . . ■ ■ Lt. Cimarron . . . Lt. Te Mahauga . Lt. Cogent . . ■ Lt. 4Us had Free Girt . . Lt. With eighteen listed to participate In Hits event, the ten furlong race should provide an interesting contest. Of the dozen on the limit, Lislea (who is coupled with Taniwha) will find favour, for a good second to Stormy Mack at Auckland last month. Cimarron is another of those on the front mark of whom improved results can be expected. Adjutant, Cogent, Home Brew, Our Summer and Roylette will be others of the advance line with followers. Roylette’s second to Taniwha at the Spring meeting was good form. Pedlar is speedy but he has been unlucky more than once this season. Te Mahanga is one from whom early improvement n,av be expected. Mazda and Raider are' not too far back. Taniwha’s success in the Spring was impressive, while Alexis was in second place at Hie same meeting. There will be several supported with prominent consideration likely for I lie Lislec—Taniwha bracket, Raider and Roylette.

2.45 MEMBERS’ HANDICAP. Of £75; limit 3.41; 14 miles. Cogent . . . Lt'. Yds bhd Free Girt . • Lt. Don'ee .... is! Lislea .... Lt. Gold Seam . . 15 Min Bells . . Lt. Sister Chris . 12 pedlar . . . There are fifteen paid up for in this mile and a half. The majority are also in the Progressive Handicap, which may prove a good guide to taler developments. Among the eight on the limit is Lislea, who comes in on li,o bracket with Taniwha (12yds), and I.ady Amanda (3Gyds), if Hie trio start. Pedlar, Raider and Roylette arc others who will not be neglected, particularly Raider, who should go well off lhe front. Donee will also have support, while Alexis is quite a

possibility. Guid Hairst did not display his be-st form at Auckland, but lie has proved his ability and his mark should not be prohibitive. The favourite. Is likely to come from Quid Hairst, Raider and the Llslea-Tanlwha-Lady Amanda bracket. 3.30 WAIPA HANDICAP. Of £9O; limit 3.38; ii miles. Billy Carbine Lt. Yds bhd Gnd. Triumph Lt. Hardy Grattan 12 Hue Coronado . Lt. Parrish Belle .24 Mattie Dark McKinney 48 Herbllwyn . Lt. Carl Mack . . 60 Nelson Girl . Lt. Kolmar . ... 108 The best of the trotting candidates will try conclusions over this, mile and a half journey and a good race can be expected. Of the five on the front Mattie Herbllwyn and Hue Coronado may make most appeal. The Ashhurst representative, Hardy Grattan, had some useful• form, to his credit last season, and he should give _ a good account of himself. , Parrish Belle has been disappointing at times, but the Guy Parrish mare can act sufficiently well when at her best to keep this grade busy. Dark McKinney was responsible for some good efforts in the early part of last season. While Carl Mack is not consistent lie is a particularly fast mover and would only have to keep down to seriously trouble tlie opposition. Kolmar is set a big task and the public may rely on Parrish Belle, Carl Mack and the Dark McKinney-Grand Triumph bracket. 4.15 DOMINION HANDICAP. Of £BS; limit 4.49; 2 miles. Guld Hairst . Lt. Yds bhd

Yds bhd Homeward . . 4S Native Berry . 2i Rey de Quest 4S Sandy Pointer 2 4 Lady Coronado 4S Eleawali .... 36 Some Dillon . 60

This field, viewed from the staying aspect, is not pronounced, but the evenness of the standard makes tiic issue open. Although Guld Hairst is conceding time to get in, if he is started, the public will give _ Tlie Triumph gelding attention. Native Berry and Sandy Pointer have to be taken on trust at the distance, but Eleawali "should he suited. Homeward’s best is at shorter journeys, but in this grade she should get the distance. Lady Coronado and Some Dillon will also come in for some attention. The favourite may come front Eleawah, Guld Hairst and Homeward. 5.0 FAREWELL HANDICAP. Of £100; limit 2.49; li miles. Of the seven engaged in the sprint event of the day, four are down to appear in tlie principal race, of whom Brentlight would come under a penalty if successful at two miles. Glandore will not be greatly in demand, although he lias provided surprises in the past and likes a firm track. Our peter was successful in tliis race last season. Although he has yet to appear for the latest term, the Peter Moko gelding should again be equal to a good effort. Benefice is speedy but Is also making a first appearance of the season. .Brentlight, Te Wahia, Brent Zolock and Dan Direct are each In forward condition and capable of setting a merry pace throughout the ten furlongs. In keen wagering there will be solid support for Brent Zolock, Brentlight and Dan Direct.
