GARDEN PARTY. A very successful and pleasant afternoon was spent by many people at a garden parly, organised by the newly formed AJorrinsville branch of Ihe Society for the Prevention of Cruelty lo Animals, held at the residence of Afrs G. Oates. The following ladies were responsible for tile stalls: —Produce and cakes, Alesdames A. Topham, Aiken, Aiiss Turnbull: sweet stall, Alesdames A. Grigg, J. Bartles and Aiiss J. Watson; afternoon lea, Airs L. Brayshaw, Afisses B. Fielder, A. Craig and M. Hetherington. Competitions were won as follows: Clock golf, Aiiss T. Hewitt; crazy croquet, Mrs F. C. Cowern; competition for evening bag, Miss ,T. Butler; competi I ion for work basket, Aiiss Turnbull. A dance was held in Ihe evening, music beino: played by .Miss V. Brayshaw and extras by Alesdames L. Brayshaw, L. Echliri and Air F. Pickett. ANGLICAN BAZAAR. The Parish Hall presented an animated scene on Friday when the Ladies’ Guild of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church held their annual bazaar. The proceeds amounted to approximately Li 3. A dance was held in the evening. The various stall-holders were as follows: —-Produce, Alesdames D. Wilson. L. Pole, C. Dickenson; cakes, Mrs J. H. Boles and Aiiss Allwood; sweets, Alesdames F. A. Hapan and C. S. AVood; flowers, Mrs Watts; work (plain and fancy, ATcsdames I. Cricket!., L. Osborne and E. Alassey; Christmas tree. Alesdames A. L. Waters and G. Watts; country stall, Mesdarnes 11. Miller, A. I. Walker and F. Jenner; tea rooms, Airs AlcKenzic and helpers. PERSONAL. Mr and Airs N. Chapman, of Studholme Street, are on holiday at Bowentown. Waihl beach. Air and Mrs 11. Swinburne, of Waiuku, have been visiting Airs G. Howie, Thames Street. Aiiss E. Alhvood, of Kereone Road, has returned from a visit to Te Awamutu. Aiiss D. Heather, who has been staying with Airs AAL Aitken, Kereone, has returned to Auckland. Mrs E. Seville, who has been visiting Mrs G. Seville, has returned to Opotild. Miss M. Lock, of AVaharoa, has been staying with Mrs W. Johnston, Mangateparu. Mrs Smith, of Auckland, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs E. Massey, Allen Street. Mrs J. Maber, of Matumaoho, has been at Tararu, Thames, for a few days.
