PIGEON RACING.
TE AROHA CLUB. Last week the club flew a race from Christchurch, an air line distance of 750 miles, for the Dempster Memorial Cup. Thirty-three birds competed, but only two homed in race time. The winning bird’s time was 3i hours 14, minutes. At the week-end a race was down from Feilding (187 miles). The winning loft was Mr Robertson’s, whose two birds, Merry and Merry Jest, registered a velocity of 1008.08 yds. per minute-.
