NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. VISIT OF OVERSEAS CHAMPIONS. (By Ti'iPi v t'anli.—Press. Assentation.) ‘ CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. The annual meeting of the council of the New Zealand Swimming Association was held this evening. The following officers were elected: —President, Mr. W. E. D. Bishop; deputy president, Mr. D. Coulter; North Island representative, Mr. P. Coira; treasurer, Mr. F. G. Dunn; representative on the International Federation, Mr. John Hodgson; handlcapper, Mr. P. coira; auditor, Mr. R. L. Hicks; secretary, Mr. B. O’Neill; representatives on the New Zealand Olympic Council, Messrs. P. Coira, M. McCartney and Camp. It was decided that the collection of registration fees be suspended for the current season. Several centres wrote expressing approval of the suggestion that American swimmers should lie invited to tour the Dominion this season. It- was decided to make inquiries as to the cost of a four by Japanese swimmers, and also to ascertain from the Australian Union whether the American swimmers who are to visit Australia this season will he available to visit the Dominion at the conclusion of their Australian engagements. PAID BEACH PATROLS. TO LOSE AMATEUR STATUS. CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. A ruling that amateur swimmers who accept positions as -paid beach patrols will lose their amateur status ami will lie ineligible for reinstatement, was given at Hie- annual meeting of Hie council of the New Zealand Am.ileur Swiimuing Association this evening.
