BOROUGH COUNCIL.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—Mr John R. Fow, formerly Mayor of Hamilton, lias given his opinion on the proposed alteration in municipalities administration by extending the life of councils to three years. Mr Fow is favourable to the proposal chiefly for the reason that it would ensure better knowledge by councillors of their duties, and that, therefore, the citizens would get more efficient service. I personally do not favour a general election of councillors, but think it would improve matters if the rotation system were adopted, a third of the members retiring yearly. This would ensure a majority of the councillors being au fait with their job, and also afford the ratepayers an 'opportunity of imparting new blood to the body if they deemed it desirable. It would bo interesting to know how this proposal appears to others Interested.—l am, etc., DEMOCRAT. Hamilton, November 28, 1932.
