Loewenthal, president of (he Australian Mutual Provident Society Federal field staff, returned to Sydney by the Aorangi last evening. Speaking in reference to the exchange controversy In New Zealand, he said: “There is no parallel between Australia and New Zealand. Australia is a large manufacturing country. Find values should be tackled llrsv and exchange will settle itself.” Mr Loewenthal, said Australia was definitely "round the corner.” “Tho specific factor which has helped New South Wales on the road lo recovery,” he said, “is a determination lo readjust land values. People arc not wailing for Ihc Government to do it. but are laking the law Into (heir own hands, as far as reducing properly and rental values is concerned. This means 'that rales and taxes must auiomalieallly he reduced.” Mr Loewenlhal said Ihc present state of llnaneinl affairs was largely a mental eondiliort and Ihc main thing necessary for a return to normalitj was Ihe regaining of confidence.
