VICTOR SMITH’S PLANS. ATTEMPT TO BREAK RECORD. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. LONDON, Nov. 28. Victor Smith, the young South African airman, announces that next month he will attempt to break Mrs Mollison’s recently created England to Capetown flight record of 102 hours 52 minutes. Smith made a forced landing in the desert through shortage of fuel early 'while attempting to break the Capetown-London record. Explaining the mishap, Smith says he landed in the desert 35 miles from Bori. He attracted the attention of some camel-drivers, and Induced them to go to Bori for petrol. They were away two days, and in the meantime he cleared a runway by hand.
FLYING-BOAT TRIPS. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyrlgm. LONDON, Nov. 28. Flying-boat trips from London to the Mediterranean lasting 10 days are the latest form of winter pleasure cruises. Lord Malcolm Douglas Hamilton, brother of the Marquess of Clydesdale, is the pioneer of the scheme, lie is using an amphibian aeroplane called Cloud of lona, capable of carrying 12 passengers. Lord Hamilton’s 23-year-old wife, who is a cousin of the Duchess of York, accompanies her husband. Already he has organised a flying-boat passenger service from Glasgow to Belfast.
