(To the Editor.) gii>—Absence in the South Island for the past week is the cause of my delav in answering the letter of “Bucolic,” which appealed In jour issue of the 18th inst. Although “Bucolic” appears to see eye to eve” with me over most matters in my letter re the New Zealand tanners Union policy on the general fiscal question I fear that he misunder : stands me over the wheat question. The wheat farmers in Canterbury are prepared to forgo any tariff duties on wheat, provided all tariffs on the necessaries of life, and on tools and implements of production are also removed.—l am, etc., W.
