DROWNING FATALITY.
BUSINESS MAN MISSING. PLANES ASSIST IN SEARCH. AUCKLAND, Friday. Mr E. E. Grimwade, a well-known Auckland business man and resident of Takapuna, left his home at about 7.30 yesterday morning with the intention of going for a bathe. He was spoken to on the beach by Mr A. G. Green, of Takapuna. When Mr Green went to dress Mr Grimwade appeared to be a considerable distance from the shore, floating leisurely. When Mr Green began to walk home there was no sign of the swimmer and after scanning the beach he gave the alarm. A search was instituted immediately and members of the Takapuna Surf Life-saving Club, commenced to drag the water. An aeroplane and a seaplane later assisted in the search. Mr Grimwade was a member of the pottery firm of Grimwade, Limited, of Stoke-on-Trent, and came to New Zealand for health reasons, although he still retained his interest in his family’s business. Shortly after his arrival at Auckland he entered into partnership in the firm of 11. E. Cooper and Company, Limited. Mr Grimwade was also a director of several companies in the city. He is survived by his wife and a married daughter, Mrs N. McNaughton, of Rangiriri.
