j MANAWARU BRANCH. | The president. Mrs Fitzgerald, pre- • sided at the monthly meeting of the Manawaru branch of the Women's Institute. A demonstration showing fancy stitches on the sewing machine proved very interesting. The roll-call (“What I would do if I won £1000") created much merriment. The hostesses were Mesdames Montague and Eckert and Miss Hogan. RANGIRIRI BRANCH. The Rangiriri branch of the Women's Institute lield its monthly meeting on Wednesday. a demonstration on kid-glove making was given hy Miss N. Waterhouse. An entertaining competition was j won hy Miss Waterhouse, and a bring- ! and-buy stall was very popular. Hostesses were Mesdames Cottrell MacDonald and Ballantyne. WAERENGA BRANCH. The Women’s Institute held its meeting on Thursday. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mrs Hunter (re-elected) ; I secretary and treasurer, Mrs F. Carter. Most points for the cookery competitions during this year were won by Mesdames Sherson and H. Carter, who tied. The hostesses vyere 1 Mesdames W Jeffries,*Walter Jeffries and D. Harris. TE KAUWHATA BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Women's Institute was held on Tuesday afternoon. Opportunity was taken to farewell Mrs E. V. Palmer, who is leaving for England. Mrs Palmer has been a most energetic member and will be much missed. Mrs Muir (president), ow behalf of the members, presented her with an autograph album, and expressed their regret at her departure. Mrs Palmer thanked the members for their good wishes. The use of the “Daisy" wool-winder and crochet-work was demonstrated by Mrs 0. Polwart. Competitions were won by Mrs Reston and Mrs Watt. Mesdames Andrew’s, Close and I Thompson were the hostesses.
