FAREWELL TO ACTING-VICAR. REV. P. CLEARY HONOURED. The Rev. P. Cleary, who has been actlng-vlcar of St. Andrew’s Church, Cambridge, during the absence of the Venerable Archdeacon G. Gordon Bell, was tendered a farewell In the Cambridge Parish Hall on Wednesday evening. Mr C. Boyce occupied the chair and expressed the appreciation of the vestry at the large and representative attendance from all parts of the parish. \ Mr Walter Stopford/ the vicar’s warden, presented Rev. Cleary with a well-filled purse from the parishioners, as a mark of the esteem that he had gained during his ten months’ work in Cambridge. The speaker said Mr Cleary had made himself felt both in church and social activities. Rev. Cleary, In thanking the parishioners,- said he had come to Cambridge thinking, that his was a very difficult task. However, he felt he had worked -his way into the people’s hearts. He had never before received such manifestations of kindness, affection and regard as at the hands of St. Andrew’s parishioners and the Cambridge public. On behalf of the Girls’ Club, Mr C. Boyce presented Miss Mary Cleary with a token of appreciation. During the evening items were rendered by Miss- Maud Giles, Mrs A. RBatchelor, Miss Joan Hardy, and Mrs A. Holmes.
