GORDONTON SCHOOL.
FANCY DRESS BALL. There was a large attendance at the Gordonton School’s fancy dress ball. The children were arrayed In very pretty and comical costumes, and were enthusiastically applauded. The figure marching and minuet (senior girls), were very prettily executed. Special prizes decided by popular vote were won by Miss Isabella Sharp and Master Noel Thomson. The judges, to whom 'bouquets were presented, Mrs G. Reid and Miss Heywood (Hamilton), awarded prizes in the various classes as follows: Tiny tots, Baby Fow, Hycanith; under ten, boys, Noel Thomson, grannie, and George Thomson, Robin Hood; under ten, girls, Jean O'Hearn, Eastern lady and Margaret O’Hearn, nurse; over ten girls, Isabella Sharp, Xmas tree and Stella Morgan, Early Victorian; over ten, boys, Alex Slater, Hussar, and Ron Sharp, scarecrow; under eighteen, Rona Bridgman; At the close of the children’s part, the teachers, Mr H. Hill and Miss R. Barry and Mrs W. J. Carswell (pianist) received a hearty vote of appreciation by acclamation.
