Mr P. A. de la Perrelle, M.P. for Awarua, who has been visiting Hamilton, left last evening for Wellington.

At a recent meeting of the Nelson Education Board the Hon. W. McIntyre was re-elected chairman.

Dr. W. Hamilton, of Timaru, and formerly of Southland, was yesterday appointed assistant medical superintendent of the Christchurch Hospital, in succession to Dr. D. N. Eppstein.

Mr J. C. Quinlan, postmaster at Otorohanga, Is spending his annual leave in the Rangltikei district. Mr B. Sheehan is acting-postmaster during his absence.

Dr. G. Craig, Comptroller of Customs, who attended the Ottawa Conference, is returning by the Canadian Challenger, due to arrive in New Zealand about October 6.

Mr F. B. Stephens, lecturer in economics at the Auckland University College, and a former Waikato tutororganiser of the Workers’ Educational Association, has been visiting Hamilton. He returned to Auckland to-day.

Mr S. C. G. Lye, managing-director of the Waikato and Thames Valley Calf By-Products Company, returned to-day from Wellington, where lie attended a meeting of Hie Dominion Co-operative Farm Products Federation yesterday.

The Rev. Dr. J. It. Rushbrook, general secretary of the Baptist World Alliance, is about to start,on a tour of visitation in New Zealand and Australia, writes a London correspondent, under date July 21.

The Otago-Southland Presbyterian Synod lias decided to send a message of greetings to the Rev. Alexander Greig, who is aged 94 years, the oldest " Presbyterian minister in New Zealand. Mr Greig was born in Hie parish of Duri'is, Kincardineshire, Scotland, and was ordained to (lie ministry 65 years ago.
