THEOLOGICAL TEACHING.
AT KNOX COLLEGE. DR. DICKIE’S BOOK AGAIN. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Wednesday. The annual meeting of the Presbyterian Synod of Otago and Southland received yesterday a letter from Rev. p. B. Fraser, asking the appointment of a committee to consider theological teaching at Knox College, covering the issue previously raised by him at the General Assembly, which refused to take action in connection with such teaching. He now sought an examination of this teaching, as evidenced in Dr. Dickie’s hook, “ The Organism of Christian Truth"—whether such book was in accord with the fundamental doctrine of the Westminster Confession. After discussion, during which some members stated that it was high time these attacks on Dr. Dickie stopped, the Synod accepted a report from the committee that matters in the document be referred to the Dunedin Presbytery to report on the legal and other relevant aspects of the case. Synod further resolved that the petitioner be informed that it is not competent for Synod to deal with the character or teaching or Dr. Dickie’s book.
