ARAPUNI TROUBLE.
LOCATION OF SEEPAGE. PREPARATIONS AT HAMILTON. '. It is understood that the seepage at ’Arapuni has 'Occurred in the vicinity of the commencement of the tiled or skirted portion in the forebay. This is the part of the headrace which came under the remedial measures suggested by Professor P. G. Ilornell and which was completed at great expense. It is possible to lower the level of water in the headrace by 10 feet without interrupting the supply of pow ! er. As a result of the tunnel being opened 16,000 cusecs (a cuseo equals a cublo foot a second) of extra 'water will have reached Hamilton at midnight to-night, which means that the river at that time will be eight or nine feet higher than normal. The Borough Council staff has made all 'necessary’ preparations.
