Abolition of Slavery. —Saturday was the 99th anniversary of the death of .Bishop Wilherforce, who took a leading part in tlie movement for the abolition of slavery in British possessions. This movement was proclaimed in 183 i and freed 700,000 persons. Leaders of churches and oilier religious bodies in the United Kingdom have issued an appeal for prayer and co-operation on behalf of the attempt by the League of Nalions to extend the abolition of slavery in all its forms throughout the world.
