■ -»•*- an improved service. • local station extends hours. •Of special Interest to Waikato listeners was the recent announcement that the local broadcasting '.station, 1211, is substantially increasing its hours of transmission. The Hamilton station, which commenced operations nearly three years a go, is .operated by Mr U. S. Anchor, of Victoria Street, and since its inception has attained wide popularity in the district. The variety and excellence of its mid-day programmes, in particular, have been a source of keen enjoyment and the announcement of increased service is welcome intelligence. Reception from IY\ Auckland has been most unsatisfactory of recent months, but when this station is relayed through IZH all irritating interference is obviated. From to-day the local station will be relaying Auckland programmes on Monday, Tuesday. Thursday and Friday evenings, and Waikato listeners will therefore he assured of ideal reception on these nights, no matter lmw severe [ atmospheric conditions may be.
