THE WAIKATO HOUNDS.
MEET AT PUKERIiVfU. The Waikato Hunt Club' held a successful meet at the Pukerimu Cross Roads on Saturday, when a field of between 90 and 100 keen hunters from Hamilton, Te Awamutu, Morrinsville, Cambridge and Eureka took part. The field met the master, Mr Wynn Brown, riding Cloister, and the first whip, Mr Ned Brown, had with him 15A couple of hounds. The high ground was still feeling the effects of the frosts and scent was light, but improved on the heavier ground, so that the hounds were able to show some very pretty sport. The Arst hare was put up in Wai Valley Avenue, and gave a good gallop of over 20 minutes, through the farms of Messrs G. Scott, D. Burke and Mrs Wright Vickers. Ringing round to the left the hare crossed the road into Mr Roy .Fisher’s property. She dropped into a rabbit warren, just in front of the hounds, and in time to save her scut for another day, Hares were plentiful, and kept the hounds busy all afternoon, but owing to the ligthness of the scent they were not rewarded with a kill. Hunting was over the properties of Messrs 11. Vickers, Findlay, C. Scott, D. Burke, the Fisher Bros., and Mrs Wright Vickers.
