PROFIT ON TWO MEETINGS, “In view of the serious depression through which we are passing, the club must be accounted fortunate in being able to report a profit on both the spring and autumn meetings, states the president of the Masterton Racing Club, Mr. C. F. Vallance, In his annual report. The spring meeting showed a profit of £167, and the autumn meeting a profit of £152. After writing_ off depreciation amounting to £SO, the year’s working showed a loss of £37, compared with a loss of £576 for the previous year. TURF IN AUSTRALIA. NEW ZEALAND HORSES. At meetings at Sydney and Melbourne on Saturday, New Zealand horses raced unsuccessfully. At Warwick Farm (Sydney), Persian, Early Cup and Cockpen were unplaced in the Greystanes Nursery Handicap, Ephialtes in the Varroville Handicap, Waratah in the first division of the Farm Stakes and Chide and King March in the Homebush Handicap. At Moonee Valley, Melbourne, Debenture and Araunah ran unplaced in the Waroona Welter, Make Up in the Ballatcr Hurdles, Spearlad in the Northwood Handicap and Actaeon in the Meruda Welter.
