OBITUARY.

SIR JOHN FERGUSON. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received July 18, 12.15 p.m.) LONDON, July 17. The death is announced of Sir John Ferguson, aged G 3. Sir John Ferguson, K.8.E., has been a Unionist member for Twickenham Division of Middlesex since 1929. He was chairman of the Board of Directors of Lipton, Limited. He has served in numerous public capacities, including Financial adviser to the Ministry of Health on Housing, chairman of the Russian accounts committee, member of the unemployment grants committee, and a director of the Government wool scheme. He, was President of the Institute of Bankers, 1925-27.

LADY BEATTY. (Received July 18, 12.15 p.m.) LONDON, July 17. The death has occurred of Lady Beatty, wife of Admiral of the Fleet, Earl Beatty, whom she married in 1901. Deceased was the daughter of Mr Marshall Freed, senior, of Chicago.

MISS SUSAN G. BOWMAN. The death has occurred at Patera ngi of Miss Susan G. Bowman, at the age of 66 years. Miss Bowman, who came from Napier about 30 years ago to reside with her two brothers, Messrs George and Edward Bowman, at Paterangi, took an active interest in church work. She was organist at the Presbyterian Church for many years, and was also superintendent of the Sunday school and leader of the Bible olass work of the church.

MR ALEXANDER JORDAN. AUCKLAND, Monday. The death has occurred at Avondale, of Air Alexander Jordan, in his 9Jst year. Mr Jordan had been a resident of New Zealand for 51 years. MR EDWARD HODGES. NEW PLYMOUTH, Monday. The death is announced of Mr Edward Hodges, a veteran railwayman.

MR GEORQE FOOTE. PUKEKOIIE, Saturday. The death lias occurred at Ramararna of Mr George William Foote, aged 65 years.
