Runaway Motor-Car. —With a man standing on the running board, a small motor-car apparently out of control travelled down Walcefleld Street, Auckland, shortly after 10.30 last night, crossed Queen Street, and, with a crash of splintering glass and woodwork, smashed through a plalcglass window in Hie shop of At waters piano Company, I.united. The. man was hurled halfway down a (light of stairs leading to the basement of the shop and was taken to hospital unconscious and suffering from severe head injuries. He lias not yet been identified, but a Savings Hank book in his possession was made out in Ihe name of .John Stanley Thomson. Mount Eden. The car was the property of Shorter’s Rental Cars and it had been rented on Saturday afternoon.
