UNEMPLOYED YOUTH.

MENACE OF IDLENESS. ENCOURAGING AMBITION. NEW SCHOOL IN HAMILTON. Following on tho evolving by Mr W. 11. Paul of a scheme to establish a school in Hamilton to cater for those boys and girls who have left school and are waiting to obtain work, arrangements have been made to put the proposals into effect, and it is probable that in the very near future classes will be established in the Winter Show building. Mv Paul mentioned to a Waikato Times representative to-day that arrangements had reached a very forward stage, and that next week the registration of boys and girls under the age of twenty years, who had left school, would be commenced. The details required were the name, age, address, the schools which the prospective student had attended, together with the class or form which he was in when he left, and his occupation, if any, since leaving school, inforration as lo the occupation which lie desired lo take up was also required. With these details available the organisers would have some idea of the teachers needed. Mr Paul stated that ho had had a number of offers of assistance from teachers and instructors. Solving the Problem. There can be no doubt that the establishment of this school in Hamilton will go a long way towards solving the problem of unemployed youth. With their time occupied in the various subjects which are to he taught the students will he encouraged in the knowledge that they are doing something useful. Among the many subjects on the syllabus are engineering, dairying, agriculture, woodwork, domestic science, plumbing, dressmaking, book-keeping, and shorthand. During their stay at the school every effort would be made to obtain employment for the students. The value of the school is widely recognised, as is indicated by 11 i c interest which is being taken in it, and it, Is probable that there will he many applications for regisl rat ion. There will he no charge to the students.
