MISSIONARY EXHIBITION
OPENING ON MONDAY. An attractive programme has been arranged for the opening day of the Missionary Exhibition, which is to bo held in St. Peter's Hall next week. The programme on Monday wilt commence at 12.30 with a short talk over the wireless from the studio of Station IZH by the secretary of the New Zealand Board of Missions, who was a missionary in India for some years. An official luncheon will follow at Bishopscourt, when the guests of the Bishop of Waikato and Mrs Cherrington will be the Archbishop of New Zealand, the Mayor of Hamilton, missionaries who will speak at the exhibition, and the exhibition committee. The exhibition will be opened at 3 p.m. by the Archbishop, who will be introduced by the Mayor. The Rev. F. C. Long will speak at the opening on behalf of the New Zealand Board of Missions. After the opening opportunity will be given to inspect the various courts. Major Robinson, of the Melanesian Mission, and Miss Baker, of the Church Missionary Society, will speak for ten minutes at their respective courts.
The exhibition will open at 7.30 in the evening. The programme will consist of a talk by a missionary, followed by a missionary play, entitled “ The Good Shepherd," by scholars of the Diocesan School. “ The Arrival of Bishop Selwyn" is the title of a tableau produced under the direction of Mrs Maning, in which Maoris will participate. Later in the evening, a new Him showing missionary work in Melanesia will be screened.
A fresh programme is being arranged for each afternoon and evening.
