UNEMPLOYED AND HOUSES.
I (To the Editor.) Sir, —Kindly allow me space to vent my feeling re the prevailing position of the unemployed, re the renting of houses. I saw an advertisement of a house to let, to ’phone a, given number. I lost a few pennies trying to get this party on the 'phone, but had to later apply in person, and upon inquiries •by the agent I had to inform him that I was on the unemployed rolls. I was Immediately informed that he woulc not rent a house to an unemployed man, though I told him I would pay a month in advance, but of no avail. What are the unemployed unfortunates to do? On the one hand I believe that a landlord can evict them through the 'Court, then on the other, they 'are barred from 'goftting into another home, by the 'land, lagents, who are apparently trying to hold up the rents in face of the facts, that law has 'been made for the reductions..— I am, etc., TENTS NOT ALLOWED. Frankton, June 2.
