INSTITUTE COURTS. SHIELD TO KAIPAKI. TWO OUTSTANDING DISPLAYS. It is doubtful whether there has yet been so comprehensive a display of home products exhibited in me Waikato to emulate those on view in the District Courts of the Women s Institute at the Winter Show. Almost every branch of home life is represented there. Vocational and useful articles testify eloquently to the sparetime activities of the “women on the , ... „ A space of 12 feet by 8 feet, with a similar-sized background, has been allotted to each court, and the Id branches which have contested the Waikato Winter Show Shield, the trophy awarded to the branch making the most comprehensive and artistic display, have made full use of their space in placing on view a muchvaried collection of home-made articles. By no means are the exhibits thrown haphazard, and the methodical and pleasing designs into which the courts have been worked are a tribute to the care and work lavished upon them. Kaipakl, who annexed the shield, put up an admirable display. With a background of mats and ornaments, which give way to artistic displays of intricate needlework, a first view of the stand gives the impression of orderliness. Presei’ves and fruit are given a prominent place in the upper corners, while appetising cookery and dainty sweets precede a wide range of vegetables which are in the extreme foreground. Outstanding exhibits are a pair of tallow candles indistinguishable from the bought article, and several landscape pictures executed in coloured wools. Gordonton Exhibit. Barbola work and beaten bronze articles occupy a prominent place in the court of the Gordonton branch, which secured second place. Thrift is exemplified in the series of articles made from waste materials, while the horticultural section is one to impress the visitor. Jams and pickles are other exhibits which form a commendable display, while the artistry of the stand is further enhanced with the aid of pot-ilowers and ferns.
