DOMAIN LANDS.

GARDENS FOR UNEMPLOYED. fostering spirit op self-help. SCHEME TO BE INVESTIGATED. Within Ihe Hamilton Borough there is a considerable area of domain land apart from parks and sports grounds, and with the object of bringing this into use, and encouraging the spirit of self-help among the unemployed of the town, a scheme of garden allotments is being investigated. Early next week the Hamilton Domain Board will hold n special meeting for the purpose of selling up a committee to co-operate with the Agricultural Department in exploring the possibilities of the scheme. There can he no doubt that a vegetable garden would assist greatly in the upkeep of tho families of unemployed, and the utilising of Domain land for this purpose is sure to meet with general approval. Already several applications for garden plots have been received by Mr W. ii. Paul, the chairman of the Domain Board.
