WINTER FARM SCHOOL.
One of the greatest national needs is agricultural education. And the great immediate need is education in regard to tho most economlo methods of production for those already on the land who have had no opportunity of obtaining any agricultural knowlodge in their school days. Over 95 per cent of the farming community have been denied any opportunity of obtaining even a theoretical knowledge of their business. Ollier countries, by means of short winter courses, provide the opportunity to farmers’ sons. Massey Agricultural College 'is meeting the position in a splendid way, and its many winter courses for managers, for " herd-testing officers, and for farmers in dairying and sheep farming arc being splendidly supported. But owing to the curtailment of the Government grant to Massey College these important courses cannot be extended. Even, however, if Massey College could cater to the sons of Auckland farmers and others at any considerable distance the cost of the short courso would lie considerable. Realising this leaders' in rural affairs in South Auckland have decided to promote a short winter course—a camp school in Hamilton, so that Ihose desiring to improve their knowledge of agriculture may do so at a very minimum of cost. They are to bo congratulated on their efforts to supply a very urgent need.
