WOLF CUBS’ CORNER.

M AKELA'S ” LITTLE YARN.

“ Uncle Jomar ” is telling you a yarn this week, so instead of my telling you one as well, i’ll teach you how to play a new game. It’s called “ Bean Bag.” The pack is divided Into two team's, Both sides mix up about the room. One team starts throwing the hag to its own men, counting aloud as it does so. The object of the game is to get It caught six times, and this counts as a goal. The other side tries to intercept the bag, and if it is successful, throws It to Its own men, counting as berore. ir the bag falls to the ground, counting starts again. Rules:— 1. The bag may only be thrown to players three yards or more away. 2. The hag may not ho thrown to the player from whom it has Just been received, but to another player first. 3. No charging is allowed. You may not touch the hoy with the bag. 4. The hag may not he held for more than three seconds. 5. After every goal scored the referee throws the hag up. Now, what about trying it? Yours Cubblly, “ AKELA.”

THAT CHEERY SMILE. WEAR IT ALWAYS. BE THRIFTY, HAPPY AND HELPFUL. (Specially written for our column by “Uncle Jomar.”) As Uncle Jomar was walking- In Hamilton last- week he cams across three hoys with such sad faces. When he asked them what the trouble was, they said they were disappointed because their parents had been unable to g-lve them their usual pocket money that week. Now Cubs, your Uncle, llko everyone else, Is feeling the pinch just now, and he, too, has to do without hts pocket money. But why worry? If wo are going to go around looking sad, things will be harder than they are now. Just put that cheery smile on your face, and, no matter what happens, keep It there. Try and think what a terrible place this would be If we did not show a cheery smile, hut went about with long faces.

Uncle Jomar knows one little boy, a Sixer by the way, who helps his people more now than ever he did before. Instead of grumbling over the loss of the

pictures on a Saturday arternoon he finds it a lot cheaper and more healthy to go to football, which is free. Now, some or you chaps take a lesson rrom this boyj he Is learning to play a good game in the fresh air. Your people have had ta stop your pocket money, not that they da not want you to have it, but because they have to buy clothes and other such things that you need. The way you Cubs can help Is to take care or your clothes, school hooks and other costly things which you MUST have. When you come home rrom school and have run the messages, which 1 hope you all do cheerfully, change your clothes before you go out to play. By taking care or your things you are helping Mother, and it will not be long before you aro getting your pocket money again. Just lately Uncle Jomar met a littla friend of his going to town. He told his wise old Uncle he had threepence to spend, so I asked him why he did not save it up, but be said he did not have a money-box. I made this little friend or mine a box and I am ever so glad now, because he has promised to save up as much as lie can.

Now Cubs, if you all do as this little clmp is doing, when the next holidays come yon will have your own money to spen I. Rut apart from the spending or ii you will havu the joy of knowing you have helped tile person who loves you the most—Your Mother.

AROUND THE PACKS. FIRST FRANKTON. The First Frankton Pack Is eagerly looking forward to Its annual birthday party and Investiture which Is to be held on June 25. The attendance cup and tho inter-six shield, for which there have been very keen competition, Will no doubt result tn a close finish. On Saturday, May 7, tho pack was challenged to a game of seven-a-side roothall by Frankton West. The result, after a very strenuous 40 minutes, favoured Frankton by G points to 3. Both Packs put up a splendid display of sportsmanship and good football. It Is hoped to hold regular competitions between the Packs, thus maintain Sag real brotherhood between tho Cubs and also qualifying them for thetr Team Player Badge. The majority of the boys have passed thetr Second Star and special classes have been formed to instruct the Cub in such badges as tho Signaller and First Alder.
