At the Moortown course in the play In the 1000 guineas tourney some of the results in (lie first and second rounds included the following:—Cotton heat Green, 4 and 3; Seymour heat Havers, 1 up; Burton beat Derry at the 20th hole; Rhodes beat Duncan, 1 up; Jacobs heat Twine at the 19th hole; R. Whitcombe heat Padgham, 2 and 1; Wolliscroft beat Gompston at the 20th hole. Second Round. —Barber beat Cotton, 5 and 4; Seymour heat Burton, 2 up; Rhodes heat Allis, 3 and 2; E. Whitcombe beat Kenyon, 2 and 1; If. Whitcombe beat Wolliscroft at the 19th hole; Kastcrbrook beat Sayner, 3 and 2; Hodgson beat Buckle, 6 and 4. Rhodes was Duncan’s ex-pupil, and he beat his old master. Barber is the Midland champion. lie played golf that " Bobby” .Tones could hardly have withstood. lie went, out in 32, and took only one putt on each of nine greens. Jacobs, a youngster, made his name by beating Twine.
