NEW ZEALAND CONTRIBUTION. AN APPRECIATED GESTURE. (Bv Telegraph.—Press Association.' LONDON, May 18. The Morning Post congratulates the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Mr G. \V. Forbes, on not accepting the recommendation of the National Expenditure Commission that the Dominion’s annual contribution lo the Singapore naval base should be reduced from £IOO,OOO to £66,000. The paper describes the recommendation as “a counsel of despair.” It says New Zealand is struggling wisely and bravely with I lie storm and her latest gesture entitles her to all tlie more sympathy from tlie Mother Country.
