THE WAIKATO MEETING. TRAINING AT TE RAPA. % THE FINAL GALLOPS. The weather was fine for the final gallops at Te Rapa this morning by horses engaged at the Waikato Racing Club’s winter meeting on Saturday. The poles were out 50ft. from the rails and the going was on the holding side. Princess Bede (Green) who had the outside running, led Baroscope (Tinker) over six furlongs, in 1.19 J. King Ford (Connor) got to the end of half a mile in 51 1-5 secs., while High Commissioner (Smith) ran a similar distance in 53 3-5 secs. Flying Prince (Tinker) was leading Pelting (Green) over five furlongs in 1.8 2-5, the former finishing well. Cruachan (McLaughlin) and Little Doubt (Connor) had pace on when they left the seven furlong post. They were joined by Holly Holm (McInally) at the six. The seven furlongs were covered in 1.34, and the last six in 1.20 1-5. All worked nicely, but Little Doubt, who had the outside running, impressed by the way he finished. Tradesman (Green) hit out freely in covering five furlongs in 1.6 2-5 .

Nine Furlong Effort,

Trowbridge (McLaughlin), Arcade (Green), Monetize (Everson) and Advance Camp (Mclnally) finished as named in running nine furlongs in 2.11.

Miladi (Drinkwater) was just leading Aga Khan, the latter with a light weight, N. R. McKenzie, up, at the conclusion of five furlongs in 1.6 3-5. Indolent (McLaughlin) and Wilton (Mclnally) got. to the end of five furlongs in 1.7 2-5. Illumlnelli (Tinker) defeated Kahau (Connor) over half a mile in 52 1-5.

Historic, in company with Lyrical, reached the scene this morning from Trentham. The former was worked on the inner grass track, but was not out for time. He looks well. B. H. Morris will be Historic’s rider on Saturday. Cargen, Phenomenon, Manganl, Ruby Dawn and Sub-Editor were among others out doing useful work.

Jumpers In Action.

Make Up (Tudor) and Landmark (Drinkwater) gave a dashing display over a circuit of the steeplechase country. Make Up who finished well in front showed a lot of speed and fenced showed a lot of speed and fenced cleanly. Apart from - a slight error at the sod wall entering the straight. Landmark also went well.

Royal Visitor (P. M. Brady) cleared three hurdles in good style. Sports King (R. Syme) and Appledore (Tudor) were companions over three hurdles, the former giving a very effective display. Appledore hit the second jump but finished on well.

Tapapa (Cluno) Little Arch (N. Syme) and Spangilhill (A. Gilmer) finished as named over three hurdles. For a novice at jumping, the former shaped well although inclined to get a shade high at his fences.

GALLOP AT TRENTHAM. HISTORIC GOES SEVEN. At Trentham on Tuesday morning, on the outside of the course proper, Historic ran seven furlongs being picked up at the five by Lyrical, who brought him home in 1.32 J. The track was soft, but not slow, and Historic worked pleasingly. He has probably never been carrying more condition for the time he has been in work than he is at present, and he will need some racing bofore being seen at his best, though he is very well, comments “The Watcher," in the Dominion.

THE WORK AT ELLERSLIE. TRAINING THIS MORNING. CANDIDATES FOR WAIKATO. (By Telegraph.—Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Thursday. Perfect weather prevailed for training at Ellerslic this morning. The going was excellent for this period of the year. On the course proper, Imamint was sent five furlongs. She completed her task in 1.2 3-5. Ca'toma, Mahkill and Good Idea were allotted a mile which was covered in 1.50 2-5. Catoma and Mahkill were in front at the finish, both shaping well. Claremore and Master Lu were worked over a mile and a-quarter, completing the last round in 2.17 3-5.

After commencing slowly over a circuit, Cynthia N. ran her last seven furlongs in 1.41 2-5.

Sunny Sky’s Saven.

Thero was little between Puriri Park and Sunny Sky at the conclusion of seven furlongs in 1.35 3-5. Toujours finished in front of Silene at the end of six furlongs in 1.23 3-5. The former worked pleasingly. Kaihoremai strode over six furlongs in 1.28 3-5 doing- it comfortably. On Hie No. 3 grass track Spring Abbey traversed a round in 1.50 2-5. Calimes, Neil, Spring Abbey and General Lu were companions over six hurdles, giving a safe display. Catlmes, who jumped well throughout, was in front of Neil at the finish, the other pair finishing on terms some lengths away.
