BOROUGH COUNCIL.
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. TRANSPORT LICENSING AOT. TIIO Mayor, Dr. F. D, Pinfold, presided at the meeting of the Borough Council last evening. Also present were: the Deputy Mayor (Cr A. J. Denz), Crs C. J. W. Barton, AY. Bourne, H. D. Caro, F. H. Clapham, AV. AV. Dillloar, H. M. Hammond, G. Lafferty, Carrlck Nlsbet, and S. V. Tyler, and Messrs AV. L. Waddel, town olerk, R. AVorley, engineer and I. AVebster, clectrloal englnoer. The following decisions were arrived at: The Transport Department Is to ho advised that the council Is willing to co-operate in the control of passenger carrying vehicles- under the Transport Licensing Act, but Is of opinion that the department should subsidise the. council to some extent in view of the work involved and the loss of revenue the council previously obtained from the plying for hire fees. The fltreet at the north end of the Domain Lake Is to he called Domain Drive.
