South America Adopts Soccer. —The adoption of English football terms in South American countries was the subject of comment at a meeting of the Iberian Society in Wellington last week. In a lecture to learners of Spanish it was pointed out that South Americans had taken up association football with enthusiasm and former English and Internatidftal players had been Imported as coaches. British visitors In South America were rather surprised when large crowds with few among their number familiar with English, would shout “Goal'.' or “Free kick.”
