The Prime Minister, Mr MacDonald, is (says a London message) now more comfortable, and his right eye is satifactoriiy improving, after his operation. No further bulletin will be issued. Right Rev, C. A. Chorrington, Bishop of Waikato, Is touring the Taranaki portion of his diocese. He attended a meeting of the Archidiaconal Board at New Plymouth on ■Friday, and conducted a confirmation service at Stratford on Saturday. Yesterday his Lordship preached at Whangamomona.

The Queen has appointed Sir Harry Verncy, her private secretary, to replace Sir Edward Wellington as her treasurer. Sir Edward has also resigned his position as Groom in Waiting to the King, owing 'to ill health.

Mr Clement May, of Wellington, is adjudicating in the elocutionary section of the Christchurch Competitions.
