REVISION of duties. HAS DISTURBING EFFEOT. BRADFORD MORE CHEERFUL, United Press Assn.-—Elec. Tel. copyright. (Received May 2, 10.15 a.m.)-\ LONDON, May 1. Mr W. P. Devereaux, London representative of the Australian Woolgrowers' Council reports that tho revision of the British tariff on textiles and yarns has had a very disturbing effeot In wool circles. It is checking new business in Yorkshire but has stimulated new hope in Continental centres. J Despite representations made, the new duties will remain In force for twelve months. Meanwhile the Industry in Great Britain can put forward facts and figures for the tariff advisory committee to investigate. Tho Irish Free State and Belgium have increased their duties on woollen textiles and Holland Is Instituting the regulation of imports under licence. Despite the disturbance arising from these causes Bradford is fairly cheerful, and rather a mOrc confident feeling is shown in Germany.' The prices of tops have not improved, but the volume of sales has Increased. There Is some inorease in activity In Franoe, for home aooount, and when the eleotlon Interest subsides Increased machinery activity may be seen. The Belgian trade is very quiet.
