In the Davis Cup contest the final singles played to-day resulted: — Shields (United States) defeated Wright, B—G, 6 —l, B—lo, 6—l, and Vines (United States) defeated Rainville, 6—3, 6—3, 6—4. The United States thus won all five matches.

Tlie members of the Australian Davis Cup team, who are on the way to Havana, Cuba, t,o take part in the zone 'matches for the Cup, played, exhibition games at Berkeley, California, yesterday with local players. In the singles, Jlopmnn defeated Chandler, G—3, 3—G, G—3, and Crawford defeated Gerald Stratford, G—2, G—2. In the doubles, Stratford and Neal Brown defeated Hopman and Crawford, 4—G, o—B, B—lo.8 —10. Mrs L. H. Harper and Glemengcr defeated Mrs Crawford -and Sproule in dha.mlved doubles. 6 —o, 7 —5,
