The Earl of Wemyss arrived in Hamilton yesterday after spending a holiday fishing at Taupo. He left last night for Wellington.

Sir James Parr, Leader of tire Legislative Council, left Auckland for Wellington last evening.

Mr Ray Fuller, of Auckland, left by the Ullinaroa to-day on a visit to Sydney.

Messrs P. Dalbeth, M. Thorpe (Rotorua), T. Carr (Auckland), and A. G. Rickys (Northern Wairoa) are at the Hotel Frank ton.

Mr E. G. Theodore, formerly Australian Federal Treasurer, who has been visiting the Dominion, left Auckland- for Sydney by the Ulimaroa today.

Messrs C. 0. Edmonds (Opunake), VV. H. Fuller (Urenui), R. K. Taylor, J. A. Taylor, D. Bohan, J. Parker (Wellington), T. M. Harris, S. J. Ryburn (Auckland) and W. Hudson Davis (Wanganui) are at the Hamilton Hotel.

Mr J. 0. Shearer, M.A., has been appointed the Workers’ Educational Association staff tutor In the Waikato, in place of Dr. J. C. Beaglehole, resigned. Mr Shearer took first-class honours In Economics and has just completed a year’s research work at Cambridge University.

Mr R. A. Tennant, of Piako Road, Gorclonton. has been appointed delegate for the Gordonton branch on the executive of the Waikato sub-provin-cial branch of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union.

Regret at Dr. J. C. Beaglehole’s resignation from the position of Waikato staff tutor of the Workers’ Educational Association was expressed at a meeting of the Waikato branch of the Farmers’ Union to-day. The president, Mr J. 11. Furnlss, stated that Dr. Beaglehole was a very able and likeable man, whose departure from the Waikato would be a great loss. It, was decided to address a letter of appreciation to Dr. Beaglehole and lo wish him success.
