WORKMAN BCALDED. AUCKLAND, Friday. Mr Robert Blackwell, aged 39, married, was working on the steam plant at the Westfield freezing works yesterday, and had apparently disconnected a pipe, when the steam was turned on. Before he could move lie was surrounded by the escaping steam, and the exposed parts of ills body were scalded. ENGINEER’S RIBS BROKEN. AUCKLAND, Friday. Fractures of several ribs were received by Mr Bertram Lewis, engineer of the motor-ship Margaret W., as a result of falling while descending the engine-room companionway last evening.
