PERSONAL. Mrs G. F. Oates and -the Misses Oates, have returned from a visit ‘to Tauranga. .Mrs W. McMannemin and children, of Auckland, are staying with Mrs E. Jackson. Mrs McLeod, who has been staying with Mrs F. H. Biightwell, has relumed to Thames. -Mr -and Mrs A. Needham have been visiting Auckland. Tlie Misses M. and L. Strevens have returned from a -holiday at Waiheke Island. Miss Stephens, of Australia, is on a holiday visit to New Zealand as the guest of Mrs R. G. Faulkner. Mr and Mrs W. T. Morris and children, are spending a Jioliday at the Mount, Tauranga. -Mrs E. G. Clark has left on a holiday visit to Tauranga. Mr and Mrs N. Bodmin, of Hangawera Road, have returned from a visit to Auckland.

Mrs W. R. Lowry and the Misses Lowry, of Kuruni, are staying at the Mount, Tauranga. Mrs N. Blanchett, of Thames, is the guest of Mrs N. F. Barker.

Mr and Mrs S. Park have arrived home from a motor tour in the North. Mrs J. L. Arndt, has left on a visit to Marton.

Air and Airs F. Brown, of Tatuanui, are touring in the South Island. Airs E. G. Wilson lias been visiting Hamilton. Mr and Mrs Aioxsom have returned from a holiday visit to Auckland. Airs J. Alaber has left for a holiday at Gisborne.

Mrs Foster, of Auckland, has been staying at Alangateparu as the guost of Airs D. Grant. Airs P. Bright-well, of Alangateparu, has returned from a visit to Woodville. Airs E. Polard and family, of Alangateparu, are on a holiday at Waihi Beach.

Airs J. Athea has been staying with her mother, Mrs W. E. Bodmin, and lias now left for her homo in Wellington. Aliss N. Walts has been visiting Rotorua. Miss 0. Colson, of Tatuanui, -has returned from a visit to Auckland. Miss Ida Campbell, of Takapuna, is slaying for the holidays with Airs K. Campbell. .Misses 13. and J. McGregor, of Bulls, Rangitlkci, have been staying with Mrs J. Y. Cameron. Miss Joyce Tolerton, of Wellington, is slaying with Miss Tolerton. Aii£? E. Allman lias been on a motor tour of Hie Taranaki and Wairarapa districts, and also paid a short visit to Mrs J. Hewitt. THE QUEEN CARNIVAL. ‘ Great interest is being taken in the Queen Carnival contest at Morrinsville, and the dances and entertain-

ments have been well patronised. A substantial sum is already in the -hands of the secretary. Up to December 23 the voting was as follows: —Green Queen (Aliss Harnett) 808, Blue Queen (Aliss J. Alaisey) 642, Red Queen (Aliss P. Bentley) 579. Since then the Red Queen held a dance in Hie Masonic Hall and on Thursday has another dance at Tatuanui, where she is sure to he -well supported. The Blue Queen’s dance at Alotumaoho on Monday was well attended, the profit being about £B. The Green Queen is having two dan'ces, one in the Alasonio Hall and one at Ngarua, and a gymkhana on January 30 promises to be,a most popular event. ST. JOHN AMBULANCE. The members of the First Aid 01-ass of -the Morrlnsville branch of the St. John Ambulance Association, having completed 'their course of instruction given by Dr. ‘G. Craig, are to be examined shortly. During -the week members of the Frankton , Railway Brigade visited Alorrin-sville and gave an exhibition -of ambulance work at the recreation ground as a training for the ambulance .competition to bo held at Hamilton on January 29. The work was watched with great interest by members and the public. Before returning to Frankton, the visitors were entertained by the Aforrinsvllle Brigade and ambulance matetrs were fully discussed.
