SOCIETY FOR THE DEA*L (To the Editor.; Sir, —The campaign to establish a Cancer Research Fund and tho gencions publicity given by the Press are still fresh ‘in memory. Efforts on somewhat similar lines arc now being made lo relieve deafness, which, if not a fatal disease, like cancer, is yet a serious menace to the* health anil welfare of those who suffer front it For this purpose a New Zealand Society for Hie Deaf has recently been formed, its specific objects arc lo foster investigations into tho causes of deafness and means of alleviating it try mechanical and other aids, t.evl.iin practical proposals in Ihe latter direction are already well advance I, and it is conthleiitly anticipated that When e.imph-led Ihey -wilt bring full relief lo those who now regard themselves as inrurable.
