THE RACING CARNIVALS.

FINAL DAY OF AUCKLAND MEETING. GOLD TRAIL BEST TWO-YEAR-OLD IN SYLVIA. GRANDSTAND HANDICAP WON BY GREAT STAR. RUSSET MOOR SUCCESSFUL OVER HURDLES. ROYAL STAKES TO THE CREDIT OF TEA TRADER. The holiday racing carnivals were, for the main part, brought to a conclusion to-day when further good support was extended and interesting racing provided. The opening event at the Auckland Club's meeting at Ellerslie was the Goodwood Handicap, which was annexed by Chief Joy from Antique and Green Linnet. Gold Trail was first home of the two-year-olds in the Sylvia Handicap, with Princess Hell and Prolyxo filling the minor places in that order. The good field of twelve contested the Grandstand Handicap, Great Star getting the verdict by half a length from Jaloux, with Peter Jackson next to finish. Russet Moor was the winner of Auckland Hurdle Fiaco from Goshawk and Hit the Deck. The classic event for two-year-olds, the Royal Stakes, was won by the Hamilton-owned Tea Trader with La Modern and Midinette in the minor places.

The Summer meeting of the Auckland Racing Club was concluded at Ellerslie to-day In fine weather before a good attendance. The course was in excellent order. Antique (£998), Nea Lap (£648) and Taurua (£533) were supported in that order, there being £331 for the seventh fancied Chief Joy. Taurua had charge along the back from Princess Bede, Chief Cook, Chief Joy, Nea Lap, Dunraven, Royal Artist and Antique. Half a mile from home Taurua was still the leader followed by Princess Bede, Chief Cook, Dunraven and Chief Joy. Taurua was first Into the straight from Chief Joy, Dunraven, Chief Cook, Royal Artist and Antique. In a good finish Chict Joy got the verdict by half a head from the fast, finishing Antique with Green Linnet half a length further away. Princess Rede was fourth and then came Dunraven. Going along the back the order of the leaders was Great Star, Peter Jackson, Sllmermine, Prince Val, Autumn Sun, Grand Spirit, Compris, Sir Mond and Jaloux. Prince Val joined Great Star in the lead across the top, Hie pair being followed into Hie straight by Jaloux, Peter Jackson, Mosque and Silvermine. A good finish saw Great Star last long enough to win by half a length from Jaloux who beat Peter Jackson by a neck. Compris was close up fourth followed by Autumn Sun, Grand Spirit, White Wings, Silvermine, Prolomint, Sir Mond, Prince Val and Mosque. Time, 2.6 1-5. AUCKLAND HURDLE RACE. Russet Moor and Goshawk were together along the back from Hit the Deck, Luminary, Kairuri, Billy Boy, Dominican and Simeon. Goshawk made a faulty jump two fences from home, Russet Moor leading into tiie straight with Kairuri, Goshawk, Luminary, Hit The Deck and Simeon as named. Midinette got the worst of the start while Inilation was slow to begin. Tea Trader jumped out smartly from La Modernc, l-’iji, Inflation and Azalea. At the end of two furlongs the order was Tea Trader, La Modernc, Fiji, Inflation, Azalea, Brazanua, and .Midincite. Tea Trader was about a length clear into the straight from La .Moderne, with Inilation and .Midinette in that order. Ch Modernc challenged the leader and a good finish saw Tin Trader win hv a head from La .Moderne with the unlucky Midinette two lengths away.
