RACING IN MEXICO.
REDUCTION IN STAKES. PIIAR LAP TO RACE. SAN DIEGO, Dec. 31. The president of the Agua Calientes Racing Club, Mr James Crofton, confirms a report that all the club's stakes, including that for the big handicap, arc to be reduced by half upon its resumption of racing. The prize for the latter race therefore will be £IO,OOO. To cut down Hie stakes was necessary, otherwise the club never would be able lo re-open. A message from San Francisco stales Hint Mr Davis says Ihc reduction in Hie slake (or Ihc big handicap will make no change in li is plans in regard to Phar Lap.
