CHRISTMAS IN EUROPE.

STORMS AND BLIZZARDS. CONDITIONS IN HUNGARY. BRISK BUYING IN BERLIN. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received Dec. 24, 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, December 23. The old-fashoned Christmas card Christmas prevails on the Continent, where icy weather alternates with snowstorms and blizzards. It has driven the wolves from their fastnesses in Yugoslavia, to prey upon the live stock in villages. Snowflakes fill the former sunny air in France, Italy, Spain, and Greece, while Portugal is shivering in her shoes. The economic crisis in Hungary has compelled the holding of the seasonable publ>o balls in cheaper premises, and only consideration for their stimulus to trade precluded their abandonment. The hotels and cafes are doing meagre business, while queues wait outside the pawnshops to exchange their possessions for the wherewithal to purchase Christmas fare. In Berlin the theatres are feeling the hard times, but shopping is brisk, though prices are lower.
