Mr H. R. Jenkins, formerly M.P. for Parnell, returned to Auckland yesterday from a visit to Britain and the United States. Mr A. Carson-Roberts, a London barrister, and an authority on local administration, finance, and legislation, arrived in Wellington by the Rangitane on a holiday visit to New Zealand and the South Sea Islands. The Rev. 11. Whitby James, of Tinui, Wairarapa, lias accepted the cure of St. Mary’s Church of England parish, Hawcra, in place of the Rev. J. R. Young, who Ms leaving to take up a similar office as vicar of Christ .iiurch, Wanganui. Mr E. J. F. Kennedy, of Auckland, lias been appointed secretary to Hie Cambridge Dairy Company. There were 190 applications. Tbe retiring secretary, Mr P. G. Harvey, has been associated with the company for eleven years. At the invitation nf the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, Mr \Y. J. Holdsworlh, of Auckland, lias accepted re-appointment as a member of the Local Government Loans Board, from which be resigned when it was suggested that bis membership rendered him ineligible to lie a candidate at the general election. After having been administrative head of Hie Devonport Steam Ferry Company for over 50 years, Hie Hon. E. W. Alison, M.L.C., has notified shareholders that he lias tendered his resignation as a director. The circular states he feels Hint, owing io his advancing years, the time lias arrived when he should be relieved of his duties. Mr Fred. W.
