POSITION AT AUCKLAND. THREE DECISIONS MADE. Mr W. J. Holdsworth will contest Roskill as an Independent Reform candidate at the general election. Mr R. Glover-Glark has Intimated his intention of standing for Eden as an Independent Reform Coalitionist. Mr P. S. Johnson, who was until recently im the service of the United Party In Auckland, announced yesterday his Intention to stand as an Independent United' candidate for Auckland West. INVERCARGILL BEAT. MR V. WARD’S POSITION. (By Telegraph.—press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Mr V. Ward, United member for Invercargill,,stated that the announcement of Mr' W. McChesney’s selection as the United Coalition candidate for Invercargill might convey a wrong Impression regarding his own position. The fact was that some time ago he indicated that for business reasons he would not be able to contest the Invercargill seat again at present.
“ I was asked last week to reconsider my decision” added Mr Ward “ hut In fairness" to the people of Invercargill I felt that under the present circumstances with my business in Wellington, I could not do justice to the affairs of my constituency.” CLUTHA CONSTITUENCY. INDEPENDENT COALITIONIST. DUNEDIN, Wednesday. Mr Peter McSkimming, of Benhar, has announced his intention of contesting the Clutha seat at the general election as an Independent Coalitionist. COUNTRY PARTY. CAMPAIGN IN WAIKATO. Mr F. C. Roberts has been appointed official organiser of the Country Political League In the Waikato and has started organising the campaign to further the candidature of yfr S. N. Ziman, who is standing in the League’s interests for the Waikato scat.
