UNEMPLOYMENT BOARD.
THE WEEKLY EXPENDITURE. MUST LIVE WITHIN INCOME. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. Wednesday. In a question in the House of Representatives to-day, Mr J. S. Fletcher (Independent—Grey Lynn) asked wether Instructions had been issued to the Unemployment Board that its expenditure must be limited to £50.000 a week. The Prime Minister, the Right Hon. G. W. Forbes, replied that no such instruction had been issued. The board, however, was required to live within its income. Mr W. Nash (Labour —Hutt) asked whether sufficient funds would be provided to enable the board to make allocations to local authorities suffiy cient to pay for the usual period of ' work under No. 5 scheme . Mr Forbes said the board was allocating up to the limits of its funds. It was hoped to provide more work on public works during the next few months.
