BILLED FOR CANADA. EMPIRE TRADE DEVELOPMENT. (From a Correspondent.) MONTREAL, July 17. Striking placards pasted on a large shipment of forged pipe moulds arriving at this port have attracted much attention here and at Toronto, their destination. The placards are In blue, the Union Jack on the left and tha Canadian Ensign on the right, and bear these words in large letters: “Made In Great Britain for Canada. Canada sent us this order. Buy Canadian produce." In the centre Is the crest of the Empire Marketing Board, which Issues the posters with wording appropriate to all the Dominions. This particular shipment of moulds was fabricated in England of special steel. In the past such forgings have been obtained fr.om the United States.

Up to the end of June, from the opening of navigation, 290,280 tons of 'British coal had been received at Montreal. This is an increase of 53,000 tons over the total for the corresponding period of last year, and. roughly, displaces Russian coal, which was permitted to come in a year ago but which now Is banned from Canada.

Also of note in Montreal shipping news is the first receipt of manganese ore from South Africa, 2500 tons having arrived on the M. V. Mattawln. Manganese stands fifth in the list of products entered through the port of Montreal, and In the past all of It has come from the Gold Coast, West Africa.
